Description
The album will be released less than two years after “World Domination,” but its composition and recording took less than a year. The album was born from a wave of inspiration the musicians experienced after the release of their last album. “The idea for a new album came spontaneously, so why wait? We struck while the iron was hot,” explains the band. Several of the band’s previous albums, including “Hellsworn” (2009), “Death Infernal” (2011), and “Darkness Unbound” (2013), were created in a similar manner. Musically, “Mass Destroyer” remains true to the band’s established style, but it features a few new elements. “Our seventh album is another installment of the brutal death metal spectacle of the Stockholm school,” the band comment. “As always, we go back in time to the early days of death metal, although this time we’ve diversified our material by adding elements characteristic of other metal genres.”
The packaging and sound of the album were designed to further emphasize the band’s old-school aspirations. Mark Riddick (Absu, Arsis) handled the artwork, creating the black-and-white cover. Glashuset and Sellnoise Studios in Sweden were used for recording, with Johan Hjelm and Jonas Arnberg at the mixing desk. Karol Daniel Liden mixed and mastered the track at Tri-Lamb Studios. “They’re a proven team of people, with whom we also recorded the previous album,” continues Demonical. “The result exceeded our expectations. The album sounds dynamic and organic, which we’re very proud of.”
